Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course

Our Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course is designed to help you develop a daily mindfulness practice so you can experience less stress and enjoy more peace of mind. Mental health professionals can earn up to 26 CE credits.

Over eight weeks, you will learn to recognize when you’re stressed. You will also learn how stress compromises your health and well-being by exacerbating or causing chronic pain, sleep disturbance, emotional distress, or feelings of being disconnected or lost. By waking to the present moment, you will learn to change your relationship to stress. Change your mind and change your life!

Professional
Development Seminars

We offer a wide variety of seminars and retreats for mental health therapists, marriage and family therapists, social workers, and other healthcare providers. From March to October many are held in beautiful “outdoor classrooms” on the land.  Participants earn CE credits. Other workshops takes place inside or on Zoom. In-person workshops are limited to 20 participants; smaller group sizes emphasize deeper learning experiences. All workshops are participatory and experiential to facilitate deep learning.

Guided Forest
Therapy Walks

Have you ever noticed how good it feels to be in nature? That’s because nature heals. A growing body of evidence reveals that the simple practice of slowing down the pace of life to experience and savor the beauty all around you helps your mind slow down, too. And when your mind slows down, you’re more able to pay attention, listen, notice what you're experiencing, and receive nature’s healing.

Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is the simple practice of receiving the healing medicine of nature through guided walks in the forest. Our forest therapy walks are gentle, easy, slow, and interspersed with invitations to guide you from the head into the body and the heart. The practice helps you slow down, let go, rest, and wake up to your senses. There is no right or wrong way to engage with the forest. It’s all about being.

Mental Health
Counseling

Brenda offers individual counseling for adults, often those who are mental health counselors or health care providers themselves. Using evidence-based treatments is important. Therefore, she specializes in Mindfulness Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral, Nature Therapy and Neurotheology, which unites brain science and psychology with spiritual/religious beliefs and practices.

She provides a variety of counseling settings which include inside the office, outside in the forest or near the water as well as on telehealth and the phone. "Meeting in the forest is far superior to ANY other setting where I've had therapy before." Erica

Organizational Retreats

Brenda collaborates with you to create a team retreat that is just right for your organization. Each retreat is designed to improve your organization’s ability to give back to the world by helping to meet your team’s needs, either as a group or as individuals.

“Dr Brenda Butterfield and the One Center helped us enjoy a beautiful day together, and also reignited an awareness in all of us of the simplicity, necessity and responsibility of taking care of ourselves.”

Heidi Knadel, Services Director of Catholic Community Services of Thurston, Mason and Lewis Counties

Healing Song

Our monthly song circles are designed to help participants experience more joy, peace of mind, and connection with others. Research shows that sharing stories, singing together, and being in nature are therapeutic activities that support health and well-being. Our healing song circles combine all of these into a dynamic, centering, joyful experience.
