An Ode to the Elements : Earth, Air, Water and Fire
Feeling overwhelmed? Burnt out? Need some inspiration? Take some precious time for yourself to absorb the nourishment of being outdoors.
Time & Location
Sep 21, 2023, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Olympia, 7400 Gallagher Cove Rd NW, Olympia, WA 98502, USA
About the event
“We need to know the textures and rhythms and tastes of the bodily world… Direct sensuous reality, in all its more-than-human mystery, remains the sole solid touchstone for an experiential world now inundated with electronically-generated vistas and engineered pleasures; only in regular contact with the tangible ground and sky can we learn how to orient and to navigate in the multiple dimensions that now claim us.”
– David Abram “The Spell of the Sensuous”
In this 4-class series each week will be devoted to building and deepening your relationship with an element, yourself and our amazing world. Using mindfulness practices, gentle movement, breathwork, journaling/drawing and time for reflection and sharing we will explore and expand our ability to be more present, relax and deeply connect to the beauty, peace and harmony that is always around us. Most class time will be spent outdoors. You will be provided with a list of what to bring upon registration.
Amy Datania Mattison loves being outside. In the great embrace of earth and sky, wind and water she feels most at home. Her inherent ability to appreciate the colors, sounds and textures of life, has been enhanced by over 30 years studying and practicing meditation, including Mindfulness Meditation as taught by Tara Brach, hundreds of art and movement classes, and a lifetime of making and observing gardens both personally and professionally. Her professional experience also includes over 20 years in private practice as a Therapeutic Bodyworker, and over a decade in Brain-Based Coaching further enhancing her inherent ability to sense and feel the intricacies of our inner and outer landscapes. For 7 years Datania owned a well-loved and respected yoga studio where she taught Meditation and Yin Yoga. As a teacher, she takes great joy in sharing and cultivating the experience of slowing down, being with, and observing the rhythms, patterns and beauty of our bodies and our world.
Datania currently serves on the board of the Olympia based Native Plant Salvage Foundation, and regularly volunteers around town as part of her commitment to help restore and rehabilitate the land and water of this beautiful region, and our planet.
